"What's that DUCDAME?"

'Tis a Greek invocation, to call fools into a circle," or so says Jaques in Shakespeare's As You Like It. Just as Shakespeare used many of his "fools" to reveal truths, we at Ducdame Ensemble believe one must risk being foolish - by being bold, inquisitive, playful, unseemly and unconventional - in order to find truth in art and bring it to life. Founded by graduates of the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, Ducdame Ensemble is committed to impassioned, relevant, and spirited storytelling where the play is always the thing. We invite you to step into our circle!

Mission

Ducdame Ensemble's mission is threefold: First, we are dedicated to creating a community of internationally trained artists. Second, we aim to introduce modern audiences to relevant, classic stories from around the world through our ensemble-based, performance-driven storytelling. Third, we are eager to pass on our love of classic work and traditions of theatrical training to others.

Who's in the circle

Ducdame Ensemble was founded by the 2014 graduates of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art's Master's Degree in Classical Acting for the Professional Theatre program. Founding Members are comprised of artists spread across three countries and two continents, further advancing our mission to bring a collaborative, international aesthetic to the home of the ensemble in New York City.

Members of the Ducdame Ensemble (also known as "Ds") share a vocabulary of holistic, classical training combining methods including Viewpoints, Laban, Alexander Technique, Clowning, and Improv first cultivated at LAMDA. Due to this shorthand, we are able to quickly delve deeply into the creative process, whether developing new work or exploring the classics.

Ducdame members all have specializations initially examined and pursued within the Master's Degree studies at LAMDA. Some of these advanced areas of interest include Archetypal Forms in Acting, Creating Music for the Theatre, Playing Cross-Gender Roles, Examining Subtext, Exploring Status, Advanced Verse Studies and more. Please EMAIL US if you have any questions regarding the above, or have interest in scheduling workshops, and we will put you in touch with the appropriate artist.
